Who would have thought I'd be living in Seoul for three months already, studying at 서경대학교 (Seokyeong University) 🍃!
I've dreamt about studying abroad for a long time, and last year I finally decided that my goal would be to study in South Korea.
I am truly grateful to the INTER-K team for their help with my admission, their constant moral support, their clear instructions, and their willingness to answer my endless questions 😄.
The learning process:
A few days before the program started, we took a test to determine our level (those who had never studied the language were automatically enrolled in the 1급). My class has 17 students from China, Mongolia, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Bhutan.
Three different teachers rotate teaching the classes. We learn in Korean, to immerse ourselves in the language environment. We attend classes in person, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It's a 10-minute walk from our dorm to the university campus. The dorm itself is fantastic. It's a three-person room with a refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioner, bathroom, and a huge picturesque terrace with a view of the mountains. 😍 There is a microwave and a water cooler with hot and cold water in the common hallway.
The teachers and all the university staff are very kind and friendly. They always tell us not to hesitate to ask any questions. One of our teachers even speaks Russian.
We participate in various activities from time to time: trying on hanbok, traditional Korean sweet-making workshops, and trips to Lotte World.
You have to study hard because there's a lot of material to cover and unfortunately, time is limited.
But on weekends, you can fully enjoy the incredible contrasts of Seoul. From fairytale streets with hanok houses, noisy shopping centers, and mountain peaks, Seoul's unique melody plays. People here are kind and welcoming. And they're lifting many of the quarantine restrictions now.
