These dormitories are located on campus and are divided into male and female.
The cost of living depends on the number of beds in the room: rooms range from single to quadruple.
Every day the hosts prepare breakfast and dinner for students, so hasukchips often have a homely family atmosphere.
Rooms vary and can cost from 350,000 won. There is either no deposit, or a deposit that equals one month’s rent. Payment is made monthly.
Dormitories
Student dormitories in South Korea can be divided into university and private
first option
Each university has student residences, which are dedicated buildings equipped with all necessary amenities: cafes, canteens, libraries, gyms, laundries, and recreation areas.
The need to pay for housing several months in advance
Traditional housing option, consisting of a building entirely owned by a Korean family. The owners of the building rent rooms to students. As a rule, this is a villa not far from the university.
Only Korean dishes on the menu — if this is your first time in Korea, you’ll need to get used to them
Cozy “family” atmosphere
No curfew
The most budget-friendly accommodation option that consists of a small room with (or without) a window, a bed, a table, and a mini-fridge. As a rule, students use a shared bathroom, although there are options with a separate bathroom.
Internet and television availability, as well as a basic set of food
Low rental costs
II. Goshiwon
Small room size
Noises can be heard easily
The cost of goshiwon includes TV and internet, and students are also provided with a basic set of food: rice and kimchi.
Rent starts from 250,000 won and is paid monthly. There is no deposit. Guests are not normally allowed in the room.
Apartments
South Korean students can rent a separate apartment, a studio, or an officetel — below are the features of these types of housing
second option
One-bedroom apartments are normally located in old low-rise buildings (villas). Studios and officetels are usually situated in new high-rise buildings. Fully equipped apartments have all the necessary furniture, as well as electrical appliances.
The rental price may vary depending on the apartment size, its proximity to the university or metro. Typically, a deposit of $5,000 is required upon moving in. The contract period starts from 6 months or one year.

Like studios, larger apartments may also be equipped differently, and this will affect the rental price. The location of the property matters as well.
Upon moving in, one is supposed to pay a specified deposit, which will be returned after the end of the contract. The contract period is about two years.
