Description It is not by chance that the tiger, which is also recognised as the symbol of Korea, is chosen as the symbol of the university. It is believed that the tiger symbolises valor, determination, flexibility and dignity. The motto of the university is "Libertas, Justitia, Veritas", which means "Freedom, Justice, Truth". These are the core values that Korea University instills in its students. In 1946, the college was granted university status and today it is one of the most prestigious multi-disciplinary educational institutions in Korea. Korea University was originally recognised for its School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Recently, however, the Natural Science and Medical fields have also been actively developed. Korea University has two campuses in Seoul and Sejong, more than 37 thousand students and 45 fields of study. As of 2024, Korea University is ranked 9th in the QS Asian University Rankings. This is the highest ranking among Korean private universities. In the QS World University Rankings, Korea University is ranked 79th. |
Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees
The academic year runs from March to December and is divided into two semesters. Each semester lasts about 16 weeks. The spring semester runs from March to June and the autumn semester from September to December.
The tuition fee depends on the field of study. For international students, Humanities tracks cost around 3,560,000 ~ KRW 6,404,000 for an undergraduate degree. In addition, there is an admission fee of 150,000 KRW for Humanities and Science programmes and 200,000 KRW for those applying to the School of Art and Design.
Master's programmes range in price from 5,163,000 to 9,267,000 KRW per semester for Natural Sciences and Health Sciences. Spring semester fees are due by the beginning of January and autumn semester fees are due by the beginning of July.
A student council fee of 80,000 KRW is also charged.
