Kyungbok University

Kyungbok University was founded in 1992 and has since become one of the leading educational institutions of the region. As of 2024, Kyungbok University has about 8,000 students. It is on the list of accredited universities.
Description
The university is a leader among Korean universities in terms of graduate employment rate. It has been ranked 1st in the reputation assessment of universities with 2/4 year degrees.

Kyungbok University is the first university to establish a startup center through cooperation with industrial companies.

The university also actively promotes international cooperation, including student exchanges and joint programmes with universities around the world. In addition, it has state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities to provide students with maximum opportunities for quality education and research.

The university has two campuses: one in Namyangju, and a branch campus in the center of Seoul.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees

Kyungbok University offers undergraduate and professional programmes. The duration of study ranges from two to four years. The academic year is divided into two semesters: spring semester (starts in March) and autumn semester (starts in September).


The tuition fee depends on the course of study and ranges from 3,016,000 to 3,527,000 KRW per semester. There is no registration fee for international students. International students who have completed Art and Design, Tourism and Engineering and passed the National Examination can obtain an E-7 visa to work in South Korea in their specialty.

Admission Requirements
International students are required to prove their Korean language proficiency:
  • TOPIK Level 3 or higher certificate
  • or a Level 4 Korean Language Course Certificate from any Korean university
Scholarships and Grants
Kyungbok University has a number of scholarship programmes, including those that are available to international students. More than 90 % of them receive a scholarship in the form of a tuition discount.

First year students
can receive a 30%, 40%, 50% or 60% tuition discount for the first semester if they have a TOPIK Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 certificate respectively.

From the second semester, the amount of the scholarship depends on the academic performance of the previous semester
The University may grant a tuition discount for the following semester:
  • 25% if the GPA is 70-74;
  • 30% if the GPA is 75-79;
  • 35% for a GPA of 80-84;
  • 40-45% if the GPA is above 85.
Korean Language Courses at the University
A special Korean Language Course
Kyungbok University has developed a special Korean Language Course for foreigners who intend to apply to Korean universities. It lasts up to a year and a half. During this time, it is possible to reach the Level 3-5 of Korean language proficiency. Normally, these are the levels required for admission to Korean universities.
