Chung Ang University (CAU)

Chung Ang University is a private Korean university with a history dating back to 1918. Today, it is one of the leading universities in South Korea. Its educational programmes are recognised worldwide. According to the QS International University Rankings, it has been ranked among the top 50 best universities in Asia. In The JoongAng University Rankings, the university was ranked an honorable 10th.

Chung Ang University's network of foreign partners includes more than 440 universities from 66 countries. It has 2,914 international students. The university's strongest areas of study are Pharmacy, Cultural Studies and Arts.

Chung Ang University has two campuses in Seoul and Anseong. Anseong is located in southern Seoul and is considered to be a center for Arts and Crafts and Agriculture. The university currently has more than 25,000 students, 2,600 of whom are foreigners.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees

The University offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programmes (all levels of education from Undergraduate to Postgraduate and Doctoral studies.).


The registration fee is 130,000 KRW and for the Department of Arts and Sports it is KRW 180,000. Undergraduate tuition fees range from 4,648,000 KRW to 7,504,000 KRW depending on the field of study. Postgraduate programmes cost between 5,536,000 KRW and 8,819,000 KRW.

Admission Requirements
Undergraduate programmes are taught in Korean. Applicants must submit (optional):
  • TOPIK certificate of at least Level 4 (TOPIK Level 4 is sufficient for the Department of Arts).
  • Certificate of Korean language course completed at Chunan Language Institute (not lower than Level 4).
  • Certificate of Korean language course at any other accredited Language Institute (not lower than Level 5).
  • Sejong Centre certificate of Intermediate Level 2 (Intermediate 2).
Postgraduate programmes are taught in Korean and English. Applicants may submit (optional):
  • TOPIK certificate of not lower than Level 3
  • TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, IBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or TEPS 600
Those who apply for the programme of Arts must pass a creative examination.
Scholarships and Grants
The scholarship is awarded based on Korean and English language proficiency and performance in the previous semester.

  • Enrolment is conducted 4 times a year for the spring, summer, autumn and winter term for 10 weeks each.
  • Classes are held 5 times a week for 4 hours in the morning and afternoon.
  • There are up to 15 students per class.
