Dongguk University
Dongguk University is a private university that dates back to 1906. It was founded by the Chogye Order and today remains one of the Buddhist universities in the world. Despite this, its graduates include followers of all religions and beliefs. And this is not a coincidence: Dongguk is one of the top 20 universities in South Korea. Among universities in Asia, Dongguk is ranked 73rd in the QS International Rankings.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees
Tuition fees for Bachelor's Degree programmes range from 4,261,000 to 5,559,000 KRW per semester. The registration fee of 120,000 KRW - 190,000 KRW is also required.
Tuition fees for Master's and PhD programmes range from 5,537,000 KRW to 8,605,000 KRW per semester. The registration fee is 75,000 KRW for Master's programmes and 85,000 KRW for PhD and Integrated programmes. The one-time admission fee is 1,407,000 KRW.

Admission Requirements
Applicants to undergraduate programmes are required to demonstrate proficiency in Korean. This can be done by:
- providing a TOPIK certificate of at least Level 3;
- providing a certificate of completion of the Intermediate 1 course at the King Sejong Institute;
- сompleting at least 4 semesters of Korean Language Course for Level 3 from Dongguk Institute of Foreign Languages.
Applicants to postgraduate programmes (Master's and PhD) must provide certificates demonstrating proficiency in Korean or English:
- a TOPIK certificate not lower than Level 3;
- TOEFL not lower than iBT 71, IELTS not lower than 5.5 or New TEPS 327.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand or the United Kingdom, as well as school and university graduates of the listed countries, must submit an educational document instead of a certificate.

1. receive a discount of 500,000 KRW off the admission fee if they have completed more than two semesters of Korean at Dongguk Foreign Language Institute and have received a recommendation from the head of the institute;
2. receive a discount of 30% or 50% off the semester fee depending on the TOPIK Level. A certificate of not lower than Level 3 is required.
Starting from the second year, undergraduate students can:
1. receive a one-time allowance of 200,000 KRW to 600,000 KRW if they have obtained a TOPIK Level 4-6 certificate respectively. At least 15 credits and a GPA of not lower than 3.0 for the previous semester must be obtained;
2. receive a discount of 20%, 40% or 60% of the semester fee depending on the GPA of the previous semester. A minimum of 15 credits must be obtained.

- Requirements: International students admitted to Master's programme who have published an article in an international reputable scientific journal (SCIE) before graduation (1 article for Master's programme).
- Tuition Coverage: 100% of tuition fee (including admission fee) for the regular semester.
- Limitations: Only for departments of Science, Engineering and Pharmacy.
3. Scholarship for International Students in Science and Technology (SRD M) for Doctoral Programme and Integrated Master's and Doctoral Programme:
- Requirements: International students admitted to a Doctoral Programme or Integrated Master's and Doctoral Programme in Medicine and Traditional Medicine who have published an article in an internationally respected scientific journal (SCIE) before graduation (2 articles for Doctoral Programme, 3 articles for Integrated Programme, 1 article for Master's Programme).
- Tuition Coverage: 100% of tuition fee (including admission fee) for the regular semester.
- Limitations: Departments of Medicine and Traditional Medicine only.
- Remarks: Applying for the scholarship to the medical center after successfully passing the entrance exam for international students.
4. Scholarship for International Students (SRD-B) for Master's programme:
- Requirements: International students admitted to an international Buddhist Studies programme who have published a co-authored article in an internationally reputable scientific journal (SSCI) before graduation (1 article for Master's degree).
- Tuition Coverage: 100% of tuition fee (including admission fee) for the regular semester.
- Limitations: Only for the international Buddhist Studies programme.
5. Graduate Scholarship:
- Requirements: Graduates of the undergraduate or graduate programme (general, professional or special postgraduate) of Dongguk University.
- Tuition Coverage: 100% of the entrance fee.
6. Scholarship for Specialization in Medical Devices:
- Requirements: Students enrolled in full-time studies in the Department of Medical Industry.
- Tuition Coverage: 100% of the regular semester tuition fee.
Since 2005, Dongguk University has been offering Korean Language Courses at the Dongguk Institute of Foreign Languages. Enrolment is conducted for the spring, summer, autumn and winter semesters. Each semester lasts 10 weeks.
Classes are play-based and focus primarily on developing speaking skills. Students may also take additional classes in Korean alphabet, speaking, grammar or language exam preparation. The cultural programme includes visiting museums, excursions, Korean traditional paper art of Handi, etc.
Tuition includes a registration fee of 60,000 KRW and a semester fee of 1,770,000 KRW including textbooks.
A residential accommodation with double rooms is provided.
The cost of accommodation is 1,150,000 KRW for 3 months. Group health insurance is also available.
