Hannam University was founded in 1956 by Christian missionaries from the USA. Since then, the university has been guided by the principles of freedom, service and truth. The graduates of Hannam University are known for their strong moral guidelines and fundamental knowledge in a wide range of fields.

Over the 68 years of its existence, Hannam University has grown into a university with a developed organisational structure of 9 faculties (colleges - departments), 33 research institutes and 234 international partner universities. The strongest areas of research at Hannam University are Biology and Nanoscience.

The university campus is located in Daejeon, which is known as the science capital of South Korea. This is where the world-famous Daejeon Valley is located. Daejeon is placed at the same latitude as Athens and has a pleasant climate. The possibility of comfortable accommodation is one of the factors behind the popularity of Hannam University among international students.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees

Hannam University allows students to pursue Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees.


Undergraduate tuition fees range from 3,361,060 to 4,294,310 KRW per semester, including admission fee. Postgraduate programmes (Master's, PhD and Integrated programmes) cost from 3,668,650 KRW to 4,843,800 KRW per semester, with a one-time admission fee of 716,300 KRW.


The registration fee for undergraduate programmes is 85,000 KRW, for Master's programmes is 70,000 KRW, and for Postgraduate and Integrated programmes is 80,000 KRW.

Admission Requirements
Depending on the programme of study, proficiency in Korean or English may be required.
Undergraduate applicants may:
  • Present certificates of a level no lower than TOEIC 850, TOEFL CBT 213, TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.0 or TEPS 700.
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency during the interview if no certificate is available.
  • Submit a TOPIK certificate of not lower than level 3.
  • Submit a certificate of completion of a Korean Language Course at the Centre for Korean Language Course and Korean Studies, Hannam University, which corresponds to the TOPIK Level 3.
  • Submit a language examination certificate from Hannam University that corresponds to the TOPIK Level 3.
Applicants for Postgraduate Programmes may submit certificates:
  • TOPIK not lower than Level 3.
  • TOEFL at least (iBT 80), IELTS at least 5.5, NEW TEPS at least 385 or TOEIC at least 850.
  • A document proving citizenship of an English-speaking country, or a university diploma of such country, in case the education was conducted entirely in English.

  • The General Korean Language Course is TOPIK oriented and allows students to reach Level 4 in one year
  • The academic year is divided into 4 semesters. Each semester students are required to complete 200 hours of Korean language
  • There are 5 study days per week
