Hanyang University
Hanyang University is a private research university. The main campus is located in Seoul and another one in the Research and Industry Cluster of Ansan City. The name of the university refers to the former name of Seoul, which was used during the Joseon Dynasty. The philosophy of the university and its founding principle is "love in deeds".
| description The history of Hanyang University dates back to 1939, when it became Korea's first institute of Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering. By now, Hanyang University has grown into a prestigious institution of higher learning with a well-developed structure and high quality education and research activities beyond engineering. At present, the university has more than 22,000 students, more than 3,000 of whom are international students. In addition, the university is among the top 200 universities according to the QS International University Rankings for 2024 and is ranked 164th. It is ranked 4th in the JoongAng University Rankings. The university actively develops international relations. Its partners are 820 universities in 88 countries. The registration fee is 142,000 KRW. Tuition fees for Bachelor's Degree programmes range from 4,789,000 KRW to 7,093,000 KRW, for Master's and Doctoral programmes from 6,376,000 KRW to 10,021,000 KRW, (as of 2024). The admission fee for Master's and Doctoral programmes is 1,030,000 KRW.

Admission Requirements
For the Korean track:
- Valid TOPIK or TOPIK IBT Level 4 certificate (not required for International Studies applicants).
- A certificate from the Institute of International Education at Hanyang University of a similar level or higher.
For the English track:
- TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS 6.0
- TOEFL iBT 89 / IELTS 6.5 — for the International Studies Track

Korean Language Courses at the University
The Institute of International Education at Hanyang University
- The Korean course is enrolled 4 times a year: Spring (from March), Summer (from June), Autumn (from September) and Winter (from December) semesters.
- Each semester lasts 10 weeks. During this time, students complete a total of 200 hours of Korean language.

The Hanyang International Scholarship Programme (HISP) is awarded to students who have achieved a GPA of not lower than 2.5 in the previous semester. The amount of the scholarship can be 100%, 70% or 50% of the next semester's compensation. The scholarship can be renewed until the end of study.
The Hanyang English Language Scholarship offers a 30% discount for one semester. Required certificates: TOEFL iBT 90 or higher or IELTS 6.5 or higher.
The Hanyang Korean Language Scholarship provides a 50% discount for a TOPIK Level 5 certificate (certificate of completion of Level 5 at Hanyang Language Centre) and a 100% discount for a TOPIK Level 6 certificate (certificate of completion of Level 6 at Hanyang Language Centre) for one semester.
The Hanyang International Excellence Awards (HIEA) is granted to students who have obtained a GPA of not lower than 3.0 in the previous semester. The amount of the scholarship also depends on the TOPIK level. Valid insurance is required. The amount of the scholarship can be 100%, 70%, 50% or 30% of the next semester's fees. It is awarded for one semester.
The TOPIK scholarship is awarded to students who have received a TOPIK certificate during their studies. The one-time payment is 500,000 KRW upon reaching Level 5 or higher in semesters 1-4 and 300,000 KRW upon reaching the same Level in semesters 5-8.
The Hanyang Scholarship for Engineering and Science Students is available to international students applying to graduate programmes in engineering and science. (A letter of recommendation is not required.

GSIS Scholarship (Seoul) and Industrial Convergence (ERICA) Scholarship for International Students
This scholarship is available to international students enrolled in the Graduate School of International Studies (Seoul) and Graduate School of Industrial Convergence (ERICA).

Graduate School of Industrial Convergence: 30% tuition discount
B. Scholarship period: Master's degree of 4 semesters / Doctoral degree of 4 semesters (excluding extended study period and research registration)
