Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
KAIST, also known as Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, was founded in 1971 as the country's first science and technology-oriented research institute. Afterwards, the institute played a key role in Korea's industrialisation and economic growth.
| description Currently, the national university has two campuses in Daejeon and two campuses in Seoul, with the vast majority of students attending classes at the main campus in Daejeon, located about two hours away from the capital by car. As of 2024, KAIST has nearly 4,000 students, including 500 international students. The level of education at KAIST is widely recognised outside South Korea. In the QS University Rankings among universities in Asia, KAIST has completed the top ten. In the ranking of international universities, it ranked the 56th place (2024). |

Depending on the programme and field of study, it may amount to
- For Bachelor's degree: 3,433,000 KRW per semester (as of 2024)
- For Master's programme: between 4,800,000 KRW and 15,910,000 KRW per semester

Admission Requirements
In order to study at KAIST, English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Applicants must provide one of the following certificates

Korean Language Courses at the University
KAIST does not offer any programmes for teaching Korean as a foreign language.
The University fully covers the tuition fee of 3,433,000 KRW per semester. Monthly undergraduate payments (350,000 KRW/month) and covering insurance premiums of around 60,000 KRW/month are also provided. The scholarship is renewable until the end of the studies.

A citizen of the Russian Federation who has already enrolled in a programme from a list of foreign educational institutions providing educational programmes at a level that meets the highest international standards, and who is willing to commit to return to Russia upon graduation and to be employed by an organisation in Russia in accordance with the qualifications obtained for a period of at least 3 years, is eligible to receive subsidies.
