Korea National University of Arts

Korea National University of Arts was founded in 1993 with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea. Today, it is the only South Korean institution of higher learning that offers comprehensive training in all fields of Arts, from Music to Korean Traditional Arts.

Korea National University of Arts actively develops international relations. It co-operates with 149 universities in 43 countries. Among its partners are the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, the Shchukin Theatre Institute, the Tokyo Institute of Arts, London University of the Arts and others.

Korean National University of Arts co-operates with the European League of Art Institutes. Since 2012 it has been the head of the Asian League of Art Universities.

The mission of Korea National University of Arts is the creation of "future classics" and education of the artistic elite who will build a better society free from prejudice and injustice through the arts.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees

The University offers a comprehensive education that allows students to both gain academic knowledge and develop their artistic abilities. Students are encouraged to try out different fields, so it is possible to take courses of interest regardless of their major area. Graduates of Korea National University of Arts can pursue a Bachelor's or Master's degree.


The tuition fee is one of the lowest in the Arts in South Korea at 4,800,000 KRW per year (since 2009).


The registration fee is 80,000 KRW, and additionally 6,000 KRW is charged for the online registration.

Admission Requirements
Korean language proficiency
A TOPIK Level 3 or higher certificate is required to prove proficiency in Korean.
English language proficiency
No English proficiency certificates are required, but there may be questions in English on the Creative Writing Examination.

Some graduate programmes require TOEFL 550 (PBT), 79 (IBT).
In addition, there is a Creative Examination, Portfolio Assessment, and Interview for each major.

Korea National University of Arts has a number of scholarship programmes for gifted applicants, as well as students with good academic performance or financial difficulties.

Students who have two or more siblings or a spouse studying at K-Arts

Students who have engaged in community service activities

Working Student Scholarship
Students with financial difficulties, such as Basic Support Allowance recipients or low-income groups studying on an undergraduate programme. Also a scholarship for on-campus working undergraduate or graduate students wishing to earn tuition or living expenses
