Sejong University

Sejong University is a private Seoul university with an eighty-year history. It was named in honor of King Sejong the Great, who gave the nation the Korean alphabet Hangul. The university's motto is: "Ingenuity, Action, Virtue, Service." Sejong University sees its students as creative thinkers capable of taking responsibility for the future of the country and humanity as a whole. The educational process is structured in such a way as to develop in students both self-organisation skills and the ability to work in a team to achieve common goals.

  • It is ranked among the top 50 universities in the world in the field of Hospitality and Tourism Management (43rd QS World University Rankings 2024)and ranks 1st among Korean universities in this field.

Sejong University currently has more than 16,000 students, including about 2,000 international students.

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees

Sejong University offers Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral and Integrated Degree programmes. The university has two tracks for: Korean and English. Master's and PhD programmes are taught separately in Korean or English or in both languages simultaneously.


The registration fee for undergraduate programmes is 150,000 KRW. The total cost for one undergraduate semester ranges from 4,445,000 to 6,085,000 KRW.


The registration fee for master's and postgraduate programmes is 170,000 KRW. The semester fee also depends on the field of study and ranges from 7,009,000 to 9,990,000 KRW.

Bachelor's Degree
Depending on the area of study, international students must present certificates demonstrating proficiency in English or Korean
Korean track
  • Applicants to the Korean track in Creative Studies, Arts and Physical Education require a TOPIK certificate of at least Level 2 or a letter of recommendation from the Head of the Foreign Language Institute for completion of the Korean Language Course for Level 3.
  • Korean Language and Literature, Media and Communication, and Business Administration require TOPIK Level 4 or a letter of recommendation from the Head of the Foreign Language Institute for completion of the Korean Language Course for Level 5.
  • For other fields, a TOPIK Level 4 certificate or a letter of recommendation from the Head of the Foreign Language Institute for completion of the Korean Language Course for Level 4 is required.
English track
  • All English track programmes except Music, Fashion and Design require: IELTS of at least 5.5; TOEFL iBT of at least 80 or New TEPS of at least 326.
  • Applicants to the Music Fashion and Design track are required (unless they are citizens of English-speaking countries) to have an IELTS score of 5.0 or above; a TOEFL iBT score of 60 or above or a New TEPS score of 262.

  • A TOPIK certificate of not lower than Level 3 for the Free Arts and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering tracks; a TOPIK certificate of not lower than Level 2 for the Arts and Physical Education tracks.
  • Letter of recommendation from the Head of the Institute of Foreign Languages on completion of Korean Language Course for Level 4 for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering not lower than Level 2 for Arts and Physical Education.
  • For entrants to dual language programmes, a TOPIK Level 3 certificate or higher will be required for Economics and Level 2 certificate for Fashion and Design.
English track
  • IELTS of at least 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT of at least 71
  • New TEPS of at least 327
Citizens and university graduates from English-speaking countries are exempted from this requirement.

Undergraduate graduates of Sejong University who have demonstrated research excellence can receive a 30% discount

Only those who have language certificates proving proficiency in both English and Korean are eligible for full tuition reimbursement
Korean Language Courses at the University
Foreign Language Institute
  • The enrollment is conducted 4 times a year: Autumn (September-November, enrollment in August), Winter (December-February, enrollment in November), Spring (March-May, enrollment in February), Summer (June-August, enrollment in May)
  • Each term lasts 10 weeks
  • There are 10-15 students in groups.
  • Classes are held 5 times a week. Mornings from 9:00 to 13:00 and evenings from 13:30 to 17:30
