description Sungkyunkwan University is known primarily as a classical university with a strong tradition of liberal arts education. However, over the past fifty years, the university has done its best to launch programmes in Science and Technology. As a result, the second, modern campus of Sungkyunkwan University in Suwon was established. Interestingly, at that time, Sungkyunkwan University was one of the few South Korean universities that had introduced a multi-campus system. The ancient campus of the university, which teaches Humanities and Social Sciences is located in Seoul. Its complex is listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage site. The old campus is home to an ancient ginkgo tree, the leaf of which is the symbol of Sungkyunkwan University. It is believed that Confucius wrote his works under the ginkgo tree. The image of this campus can be found on the 1000 KRW banknote. The modern campus, as it was mentioned earlier, is located in Suwon, which is 30 kilometers from Seoul. Suwon is considered as a modern economic and business center. This is where the research center of Samsung Electronics is located. The Suwon campus is an ideal place to study Engineering and Science disciplines. Sungkyunkwan University is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Korea, ranking among the "So-Song-Han" (Sogang, Sungkyunkwan and Hanyang Universities) of the top three institutions after the famous S.K.Y. trio. (SNU, Goryeo, Yonse). Education at Sungkyunkwan University is recognised all over the world. In 2024, it was ranked as the 145th in the world and 16th in Korea among private universities in the QS International University Rankings. And in the Joongang University Ranking of Universities, Sungkyunkwan University was ranked as the 3rd one. Tuition and Fees
Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees are available at Sungkyunkwan University.
Undergraduate tuition fees range from 5,087,000 KRW to 6,606,000 KRW per semester (as of 2024). Additionally, a one-time admission fee of 150,000 KRW is also charged.
A semester on Master's and PhD programmes costs between 6,741,000 KRW and 10,603,000 KRW . The one-time admission fee will be 1,198,000 KRW, with an entrance fee of 100,000 KRW.
There are two tracks at the University: Korean and English. There are also programmes with multiple specialities.
