Sogang University
Sogang University was founded under the initiative of the Korean Catholic Hierarchy in 1960 to provide higher education based on Catholic teachings and at the same time in line with Korean traditions. The educational process at Sogang University is designed to create conditions for the all-round development of students. It is based on the principles of love and faith, respect for human dignity and the constant and persistent search for truth. The last principle is reflected in the motto of the university - "Obedire Veritati" (Latin for "Obedient to the truth").

Academic Programmes | Tuition and Fees
The study programmes at Sogang University follow the tradition of multi-level education. Courses are taught in Korean Language Course and English Language Course. Tuition fees include a registration fee of 150,000 KRW for Bachelor's programmes and 1,042,000 KRW for Master's and Doctoral programmes.
The cost per semester depends on the field of study. Bachelor's programmes cost between 4,697,000 and 6,078,000 KRW (as of 2024). For Master's and Doctoral programmes the amount varies between 5,526,000 and 6,977,000 KRW. During the course of study, student union fees (15,000 KRW) and graduate association membership fees (50,000 KRW) may also be charged additionally. These fees are only charged at the request of the students.

To enroll in the Korean undergraduate track, international students must provide certificates demonstrating proficiency in the Korean language of their choice

- Certificate of Completion of Korean Language Course at Sogang University not lower than Level 3.
- Korean Language Course Completion Certificate from Sejong University of not lower than Intermediate 1 Level.
- Certificate of Korean Language Course Completion from any other accredited university of not lower than Level 3.
English track
- IELTS 5.5 or higher;
- iBT TOEFL 71 points or higher;
- TEPS 600 points or higher;
- (New TEPS 330 points or higher).
Proof of language skills is not required for admission to the Department of Interdisciplinary International Studies.

Scholarships and Grants
International students may apply for admission and academic scholarships
The payment period is for up to 8 semesters, as long as students have completed at least 12 credits in the previous semester and have a GPA of not lower than 2.50 out of a possible 4.30
To be eligible for this scholarship it is necessary to have a TOPIK Level 4 certificate (or Sogang Language Centre Level 4 certificate) and English language certificates of at least TOEFL 80 IBT, TEPS 352 or higher.
- Entrance Scholarship I is awarded to the top-5% of applicants. The scholarship fully compensates the tuition fee. The period of payment is up to 8 semesters if the scholarship recipients' academic performance does not fall below a 2.8 GPA in the previous semester and they accumulate 12 credits.
- Entrance Scholarship II is awarded to applicants in the top-10% of the ranking. The scholarship reimburses 50% of the cost of one semester.
- Entrance Scholarship III is awarded to applicants in the top-25% of the rankings. The scholarship reimburses 25% of the first semester cost.
- Entrance Scholarship IV is awarded to applicants in the top-50% of the ranking. The scholarship reimburses 10% of the first semester fee.
- Global Emerging I will fully reimburse tuition for 8 semesters.
- Global Emerging II will reimburse half of the tuition for 8 semesters.
- Global Emerging III will reimburse one quarter of the tuition fee for 8 semesters.
- The Language Scholarship I is awarded to applicants who have obtained the TOPIK Level 6 certificate or have completed Level 6 at the Sogan Language Centre. Preference is given to students with a high GPA on admission. The scholarship reimburses 100% of the cost of one semester.
- Language Scholarship I is awarded to applicants who have obtained the TOPIK Level 6 certificate or have completed Level 6 at the Sogan Language Centre. Preference is given to students with a high GPA on admission. The scholarship compensates 50% of the cost of one semester.
- The Sogan Language Centre Language Scholarship is awarded to applicants who have completed Level 3 or higher at Sogan Language Centre. The scholarship compensates 25% of the cost of the first semester.
- Global I Scholarship for students with excellent academic records. To qualify for the scholarship, the student must have accumulated 12 credits or more per semester and have a GPA of not lower than 2.5. The scholarship can cover from ⅙ of the semester cost up to 100%.
- Global Scholarship I is for students who are facing financial difficulties and show prospects in their studies. To qualify for the scholarship, the student must have accumulated 12 or more credits per semester and have a GPA of at least 2.5. The scholarship can cover from ⅙ of the semester cost up to 100%.
- Sogang University Graduate Association Scholarship for students with excellent academic performance. Students must have a GPA of not lower than 3.0 to qualify for the scholarship. 1,500,000 KRW is paid to students.
The decision to award the scholarship is made by the deans of the departments. Depending on the TOPIK certificate, the Sogang Global Fellowship can reimburse 30% to 80% of tuition fees for 1 academic year.
To continue the scholarship, it is necessary to have a GPA of not lower than 3.5 and accumulate at least 3 credits.

Granted to students who assist professors in the department they are studying in or internal university organisations with lectures, research and practical classes. The scholarship will be determined based on the number of hours worked and other factors. The decision will be made by the heads of departments after admission.

Granted to students (full-time) working as researchers on the recommendation of their supervisors. Application must be submitted within the prescribed deadline of each semester to the affiliated department. The scholarship will be awarded up to the remaining 50% of the tuition fee. The decision will be made by the Heads of Departments after admission.

Korean Language Courses at the University
Sogang Korean Language Teaching Centre
- The courses at Sogang University are primarily aimed at developing speaking skills. Out of four hours of classes, more than two hours are devoted to speaking practice, so the group size does not exceed 16 people.
- The General Korean Language Course lasts for 10 weeks. Enrollment is conducted 4 times a year for spring (from March), summer (from June), autumn (from September) and winter (from December) semesters.

The Sogang Korean Language Teaching Centre has been operating at the university since 1990. The aim of the center is to promote the Korean language and culture in the world. The courses at Sogang University are primarily aimed at developing speaking skills. Out of four hours of classes, more than two hours are devoted to speaking practice, so the group size does not exceed 16 people. Classes are taught using in-house developed textbooks, which cover Level 1 to Level 6. The institute also teaches a special Advanced Korean course ( Level 7). The course involves studying news and academic articles, Korean literature, in order to further immerse oneself in Korean culture and language learning.
The General Korean Language Course lasts for 10 weeks. Enrollment is conducted 4 times a year for spring (from March), summer (from June), autumn (from September) and winter (from December) semesters.
In addition to language classes, there are also cultural classes.
The tuition fee consists of a registration fee of KRW100,000 and a semester fee of 1,830,000 KRW for morning classes from 9:00 to 13:00 and 1,770,000 KRW for evening classes from 13:30 to 17:30. Study materials are charged separately.
Dormitory accommodation is not provided for students who attend regular courses.
